oh the luck

so i had this usb flash memory stick. yup, had, dig? ist kaput.

the only really important stuff on it was about (fifty? a hundred?) hours' work on that pesky webcomic that continually occupies my quiet-time thoughts. every once in a while, i'd get a fantastic idea for thus-and-such, plug it into whatever workstation i was currently employing, jot it down, unplug it. and sadly the last time i copied anything from it was, roughly, summer.

balls; i'm not generally good at dealing with my own stupidity, especially when it could have been so easily avoided.

anyone know someone who knows someone?

Oh… the pain! Maybe these guys could help? Maybe you could try the crazy stuff that these guys did?

The problem with writing things down is that if you don't have the written words in front of you, you forget everything instead of just some things. I empathize with your loss.

I ran my pendrive through the wash once, and it survived. I am not sure how it managed to pull through, but it did. I know this does not help you feel better, but for some reason I wanted to tell you this.

I broke my first USB drive by almost breaking the device off from the metal bit while it was plugged into a USB port. Funny thing was, even though the metal USB interface was hanging by only part of the metal, if I forced it back into it's original shape, I could still get my info off of it. This doesn't help you, but it was good to talk about me for once. I would say the first comment has the highest probability of actually helping you.

Wait, back up, you were working on a web comic? Why wasn't I informed about this?
